I’m a skincare scientist and these are the three Sephora moisturisers I’d actually put on my face: ‘They work wonders’
- Cosmetic scientist David Rooney revealed his favourite Sephora skincare buys
- The skin expert looks for specialised ingredients when he shops for moisturiser
A cosmetic scientist and skincare brand owner has revealed the top Sephora buys he swears by.
David Rooney finds himself gravitating to the same moisturisers whenever he needs to restock his beauty routine.
The skin expert religiously uses First Aid Beauty’s KP Bump Eraser ($48), Peter Thomas Roth’s Water Drench Moisturiser ($85), and The Inky List’s Omega Water Cream ($18).
First Aid Beauty’s product was formulated to relieve the symptoms of keratosis pilaris, which is a skin condition that affects one in three Australian adults.
On the other hand, the other two moisturisers have special ingredients that target specific issues like dullness and dry skin.

David made a post detailing his beauty shopping trip and product recommendations.
‘These Sephora products will f**k with your skin in a good way,’ he said in a video.
‘You know that bumpy stuff on the back of your arms?’ he asked, referring to keratosis pilaris, a condition that causes small, rough white or reddish bumps and patches on the skin.
He recommended First Aid Beauty KP Bump Eraser, and it’s formulated with pumice, glycolic and lactic acids, and bisabolol to visibly reduce bumpy and rough skin.
David’s other favourites include the Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Moisturiser which contains silicone, and The Inkey List’s Omega Water Cream – which is a budget-version of the former product.
‘A moisturiser with silicone is a winner,’ David said.
Silicone is known to improve skin texture, lock in moisture, and smoothen out the epidermis. It can also reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
‘[The Omega Water Cream] is a cheaper moisturiser that spreads onto your skin like a spritz of water,’ David added.

Many were thankful for David’s suggestions and vowed to try out the popular Sephora products.
‘Wow, thank you so much for your recommendations,’ a woman wrote.
‘I use the Omega Water moisturiser every morning and I love it,’ another added. ‘It doesn’t leave your skin feeling greasy at all.’
‘My daughter is starting to get red bumps on her thighs – I will try this out!’ a mum said.
