David Walliams joins Barbara Windsor’s widower for dinner after Alesha Dixon discussed his BGT exit

David Walliams enjoyed dinner with pal – and Barbara Windsor’s widower – Scott Mitchell at London’s swanky Scott’s restaurant on Monday evening.

The Little Britain star, 51, cut a dapper figure tailored grey jacket which he layered over a black shirt and dark trousers.

David completed the look with brown leather dress shoed and a pair of thick rimmed glasses.

Meanwhile Scott, 60, who was married to the EastEnders legend before her death in 2020 aged 83, opted for a light grey suit.

He teamed it with a blue floral shirt for the outing and slipped his feet into black shiny boots.

The duo appeared in great spirits as they left the posh eatery with David even carrying home left overs.

David was friends with Scott and Barbara for many years and following her death, following a battle with Alzheimer’s, penned an emotional tribute.

Writing: ‘Goodbye Dame Babs. You were my first love as a child in the Carry On films & I will love you forever.

‘Working with you, spending time with you & being your friend was one of the greatest thrills of my life. The unofficial Queen of England, an icon treasured by the nation.’ David’ (sic)

It comes after Alesha Dixon broke her silence on Monday following David’s scandal-plagued Britain’s Got Talent exit.

The comedian quit the ITV show ahead of its 2023 series and was replaced by former Strictly judge Bruno Tonioli, 67.

In the latest issue of Waitrose Weekend, Alesha, 44, said: ‘I haven’t spoken about it, but of course, I’m deeply saddened because David is a great friend.

‘I love him very much. We started the show together, and I’ll miss him dearly.’

David’s exit from BGT came after he was forced to apologise for describing an elderly contestant as a ‘c***’ and making vile sexual remarks about a woman taking part.

The comments, made in January 2020 during auditions at the London Palladium, were picked up on the programme’s microphones and revealed in December 2022.

During the audition, an older performer engaged in banter with the judges in which he made a jibe about Walliams. After the audition, the pensioner left, at which point Walliams is said to have called him a ‘c***’ three times.

Another instance occurred after a female contestant auditioning on the same show had walked off stage.

David remarked: ‘She’s like the slightly boring girl you meet in the pub that thinks you want to f*** them, but you don’t… It’s the last thing on your mind, but she’s like, ‘Yep, I bet you do!’ ‘

At the time Amanda Holden and Simon Cowell weighed into the scandal surrounding David after offensive remarks he made about Britain’s Got Talent contestants were leaked.

Despite the backlash, Amanda publicly backed her co-star during the uproar when she proudly declared herself ‘team David’.

Speaking about the future of Britain’s Got Talent, Amanda told Good Morning Britain: ‘I would like to see the judging panel look like it did before. I think we’re a great team, we’re a family.’

Asked directly if she was ‘Team David’, she replied: ‘Of course I’m team David.

Simon wasn’t as forthcoming when probed about his fellow judge in an interview with The Daily Star.

Asked about David’s conduct, Simon responded: ‘Can we not go there? If you don’t mind.’

He also insisted the judges weren’t the key to the success of the show, musing: ‘I think for me, the most important thing – and I had this conversation the other day. It’s always about the talent.

‘If you don’t have great talent, you don’t have a show,’ he said. ‘That’s all I care about.’
