Davina McCall pokes fun at her injured middle finger

She shared a heartwarming message about loneliness over Christmas, following her split from husband of 17 years Matthew Robertson.

But Davina McCall kept her mind off her heartache as she indulged in a fitness session with a friend on Friday, showcasing her incredible abs in a skimpy crop top.

It seems the 50-year-old presenter may have over-exerted herself however as she injured her middle finger – joking that it now looks like she’s ‘constantly being rude’ to people.

Loving life: Davina McCall kept her mind off her heartache as she indulged in a fitness session with a friend on Friday, showcasing her incredible abs in a skimpy crop top – after splitting from husband of 17 years Matthew Robertson

The presenter shared a photo of her middle finger on her left hand wrapped up and supported with a splint.

Clearly seeing the funny side of the injury, she captioned the Instagram snap: ‘It looks like I’m constantly being rude to people.’

MailOnline has contacted Davina’s reps for further comment.

Davina didn’t let the injury hold her back as she posed with her friend at the gym – with the pair donning crop tops and skintight leggings.

It comes after Davina gave some insight into life as a newly-single woman -revealing she exercises to ‘clear her head’ and feels ‘reborn’ after the menopause.

Speaking on the Is It Just Me? podcast, from the ex-editor of Glamour Jo Elvin, she lauded the effects of fitness on mental health, before acknowledging how men ‘don’t talk enough’ about their issues and insecurities later in life.

Talking to hosts Jo Elvin and James Williams, Davina admitted women often embark on a new chapter of life during the menopause, rather than retiring into middle age.

She said: ‘We as women get to a point where we get to the menopause, and its far from being a time where everything falls apart.’

Revealing women start to put themselves first when the condition hits, after a life of helping others, she added: ‘It’s like a rebirth, the menopause.

Abs-olute confidence: Speaking about the effect of the menopause, she said: 'Women think, ‘I don't care if I appeal to men anymore, I want to feel amazing in myself'

‘It’s a weird thing where women go, what do I want? We’ve been selfless, we’ve looked after other people.’

She then went on to compare the attitude of middle-aged women to men, and acknowledged how men don’t have any ‘role models’ to help them battle any insecurities, unlike females.

She said: ‘Women think, ‘I don’t care if I appeal to men anymore, I want to feel amazing in myself, and I want to be the version of myself I can be’

‘Whereas guys think, ‘Am I losing my allure? Where am I going, what’s my job? That’s a mid life crisis for a guy.’

Honest: Admitting men don't have the same however, she added: 'We have so many women to look up to, so many fantastic role models, but men need the same - men don't talk enough'

‘I feel like we get reborn and we are enjoying complete revelation with women – we have so many women to look up to, so many fantastic role models.

Before claiming: ‘But men need the same – men don’t talk enough.’

Candidly chatting on the podcast, Davina also addressed her famous love of exercise – and confessed she keeps fit for the effect it has on her mental health, just as much of the physical.

Admitting she had lost weight in 2017, after an undoubtedly stressful year following her split from husband Matthew, she explained: ‘Yesterday I went for a run at about 2:30.

‘The sun was really low in the sky ,and it was crisp and so beautiful. I just felt fresh, and my face all tingly and my head really clear… and I just felt good about life.’

The interview comes after Davina recorded a Christmas message for her fans – in which she reassured those ‘feeling a bit lonely’, following her recent marriage breakdown.

Speaking to the camera, the TV presenter, 50, said: ‘Hey everybody – I just wanted to say a very happy Christmas and I wanted to also say happy Christmas to anybody who’s feeling a bit lonely.

‘I think it’s one of those days, isn’t it? Where, sometimes even if you’re in a huge group of people it’s quite possible to feel lonely or if you’ve lost someone you really care about, and this is your first Christmas without them, or if you couldn’t get home to your family.

‘Anyway, I’m sending everybody a great big Christmassy hug.

‘It’s only a day, and if you are feeling terrible, cuddle up with a duvet, make yourself some food as that’s a nice act of self-love, and go watch some funny Christmas films.

‘Lots of love, and I’ll be back at some point on Instagram this week.’

She has also been putting her focus on her fitness, which was evident as she was seen working up a sweat in her new Toned In Ten workout video, shortly before she posted a sizzling, bikini-clad snap on Instagram.

The former Big Brother presenter showed off impressively taut abs in a tiny white sports bra and skintight grey leggings as she embarked on the gruelling workout session earlier in the week.

While she wavered slightly, exercise-fanatic Davina showed off her incredible workout prowess, with the stunning star sharing an incredible image of her figure while giggling in a bikini on Wednesday morning.

Meanwhile, Davina has been keeping her mind of her recent heartache with a sun-soaked holiday to Sydney with their three children to visit her sister.

The TV star showed off her incredible six-pack as she posed in a sports bra and referred to dating app lingo as she joked ‘swipe left’ in the caption.

Davina added: ‘In Aus with the kids visiting my sis and her family. feels so good to workout outside !!!

Referring to the string of shots in the same sporty outfit, she concluded self-deprecatingly: ‘ps didn’t mean to post 4 pics.’

She looked every inch the gym bunny as she showed off her impressive abs in the skimpy crop top and grey shorts.

Proving she’s a sucker for a scantily-clad snap, Davina displayed her impressively rippling abs in a selfie with her instructor Sarah earlier this week.

Posing in front of the mirror for the snap, Davina’s right hand, which clasped on to her phone, remained in view – with her wedding ring clearly visible on her fourth finger.

Davina was first seen swapping her ring to her other hand while running errands in Bedfordshire on Saturday.

However, the Million Pound Drop host was also spotted with a bandage on a finger on her left hand – potentially providing reason for the changeover.

The move comes after Davina confirmed she was parting ways with husband Matthew Robertson, after seventeen years of marriage.

She told MailOnline earlier this month: ‘I am very sad to say that Matthew and I have separated.

‘Our amazing children are our number one priority, above everything else so therefore we ask for as much space and respect from the media as possible while our family goes through this difficult time.’

It later emerged that Davina and Matthew were not pictured together for a whole year prior to their shock split.

The pair were last seen in public together at a party hosted by Kelly Hoppen in November 2016, to celebrate her 40-year career as an interior designer.

The brunette has also not posted about Matthew on Instagram since August 2016, when the pair enjoyed an action-packed holiday in Canada.

However, Davina has shared a number of inspirational quotes to the site – which potentially hinted at her marriage woes before news of the split broke.

One heart-wrenching image read: ‘When I say ‘I’m fine’, I actually mean ‘Just hug me’.

Wanting to reassure fans she was ‘doing great’, she wrote in the caption: ‘This is very true…. fine is very rarely fine… annnnnnnd I really love a hug!!!! But today , just in case any of my mates are worried…. I’m doing great.’
