Dawn French puts on an edgy display as she continues to rock her cropped grey hair

She ditched the black hair dye and her iconic bob in lockdown.  

And Dawn French put on a chic display as she continued to show off her cropped grey hair to attend Sondheim’s Old Friends in London on Tuesday. 

The comedian, 64, rocked an all-black ensemble as she donned a long waterfall style leather jacket for the event. 

She layered under a flowing jersey dress with a v-shaped neckline that connected with three silver hoops. 

The actress completed her look with a sweep of dark smokey eyeshadow and slipped into a pair of suede Chelsea boots with gold detailing. 

Dawn was beaming as she posed for photos outside the event which was held in celebration of American composer Stephen Sondheim’s legacy.

Last month, Dawn managed to find some light relief in the midst of her isolation after testing positive for Covid of her health woes, after being left in hysterics by fans’ reactions to her new look.

The Vicar Of Dibley star had shared a selfie of her naturally grey hair styled into pigtails and her chosen glasses. 

Dawn shared the snap of the picturesque sights that greeted her in her garden ahead of the spring season.

The veteran comic, who ditched the hair dye in lockdown and has been embracing her naturally grey locks, had her hair styled into little pigtails.

Noting her recent Covid-positive status, She captioned the post: ‘ Still with the [virus emoji] but cheerfully Springy as hell here…’

Luckily hours later Dawn learned that she was finally Covid-free, as she shared a snap of her negative lateral flow test, with the caption: ‘Do one.’ 

After sharing her post, Dawn couldn’t hide her laughter at some fans’ to her hairstyle, tweeting: ‘WHAAAAT?!?!?!’

Despite embracing her naturally grey hair, Dawn previously revealed she was planning to grow out her shortened hair to recreate her trademark bob.

Of what motivated her to go au natural, she told Good Housekeeping Magazine: ‘The real trigger came during the lockdowns when I was dying my hair myself, and I just couldn’t be bothered to keep doing it, so I let my natural grey come through. 

Admitting to cutting her own hair – much to her hairdresser’s alarm – Dawn continued: ‘It’s much shorter than I’m used to now and I do have certain “grr” moments when I’m going out and I don’t know how to style it – I would literally give my old hair 13 minutes of my time each day.

‘But the plan is to grow it again like my old hairstyle. I’m curious to see what the bob might look like with a good strong grey.’
