Former daycare worker, 65, charged with child abuse after she was filmed ‘smacking kids during nap time’ – as authorities say they found over 30 incidents in her THREE DAYS OF EMPLOYMENT

A Florida woman was charged with child abuse after she was caught on surveillance footage manhandling toddlers at a daycare, police say. 

Katherine Weitz, 65, was arrested for allegedly abusing the children while employed at Dream City Academy in Ormond Beach. 

‘There was shaking (and) a couple of kids being smacked during nap time,’ Keith Walker, of the Ormond Beach Police Department, explained to WFTV. 

‘Some of the kids, she palmed the back of their heads with her hands and pushed them face forward in their cots.’ 

Police said that an office manager heard the children crying and rushed to see what happened on security cameras.

Parents are outraged over the abuse. 

Walker stated: ‘We found over 30 incidents that could be considered child abuse to at least four different children.’

Weitz is said to have told authorities that she woke up with a headache and had thought about calling in sick. She added that she had no patience with the children.

Police shared that the woman passed a background check before she was hired.
