The National Academy of TV Arts & Sciences announced Tuesday that they ‘made the difficult decision’ to postpone the 50th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards ceremony scheduled to air June 16 on CBS due to the strike by the Writers Guild of America.
‘In addition, the Creative Arts & Lifestyle ceremony, planned for Saturday, June 17, has been postponed pending a strike resolution,’ NATAS CEO Adam Sharp said in a statement on the website.
‘We look forward to our community gathering together as one to celebrate our golden anniversary and all of the talented nominees and honorees at a later date pending the resolution of the strike (as well as potential other actions which may result from pending negotiations between the studios and the DGA and SAG-AFTRA).’
Sharp continued: ‘We made many efforts to resolve the event challenges created by the strike and potential picketing of the ceremonies, but ultimately, in consultation with our production company, the network, and the executive committee, could not see a path forward to holding the cohesive, celebratory community event our golden anniversary warrants.’
When the nominations were unveiled on April 26, General Hospital scored more than any other show with 19 nods, including Kelly Thiebaud, who’s up for outstanding performance by a supporting actress in a drama series.

The Bold and the Beautiful came in second place with 14 nominations while The Young and the Restless nabbed 13 nods and Days of our Lives earned 11 nods.
The Kelly Clarkson Show dominated the daytime talk show categories with ll nominations but they face heavy competition against Live with Kelly and Ryan, Today with Hoda & Jenna, The Jennifer Hudson Show, Tamron Hall, Sherri, and The Drew Barrymore Show.
Speaking of the 48-year-old ex-Hollywood wildchild, Drew’s syndicated series earned an impressive seven nominations tying with Netflix’s three-part docuseries Island of the Sea Wolves narrated by Will Arnett.
Zac Efron’s Netflix travel show Down the Earth scored four nominations but he’ll have to beat the likes of Martha Stewart’s Martha Gardens, Danielle Brooks’ Instant Dream Home, and Guy Fieri’s Guy’s All-American Road Trip.
The WGA strike – which began May 2 – most recently affected the 76th Tony Awards, which is now moving forward with with an unscripted televised broadcast on CBS with host Adriana DeBose – according to THR.
The 83rd Annual Peabody Awards ceremony scheduled for June 11 in Los Angeles was entirely canceled on Monday, after they released the full list of 39 winners on May 9.
And on May 7, the 2023 MTV Movie & TV Awards aired a Zoom-filled broadcast-only presentation with only pre-taped segments of Barrymore, who dropped out of hosting in solidarity with the strikers.
