Dead body discovered in home of New York Giants star Janoris Jenkins

A family friend of New York Giants cornerback Janoris Jenkins was found dead Tuesday morning inside the basement of the football player’s New Jersey home.

Prosecutors and police in Bergen County confirmed 25-year-old music producer Roosevelt Rene was discovered by a house worker at the residence located on 14 Van Saun Place in Fair Lawn.

Officials are investigating Rene’s death as possible strangulation and suffocation, NFL Network reporter Mike Garafolo said on Twitter this afternoon.

The 29-year-old was said to have had been in Florida – where he is from – at the time police and a coroner arrived.

A source told ESPN a man claiming to be the cornerback’s brother boarded a JetBlue flight from Newark to Fort Lauderdale Monday night to allegedly meet Jenkins.

The individual said Jenkins’ brother, however, got off of the plane ‘because he was too scared to fly.’ The incident reportedly resulted in flight delays.

The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office released a statement on the matter.

‘The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Fair Lawn Police Department are investigating a death,’ Acting Prosecutor Dennis Calo said earlier Tuesday.

Prosecutors previously said the victim did not reside at the home, but later released an update suggesting Rene had moved in recently.
