Emergency crews rushed to the north Brisbane street after they were called to the scene early on Thursday.

A large police presence remains on the street, which has now been declared a crime scene.

Queensland Police confirmed they were now hunting for the man’s killer.

Inspector Steve Flori said a woman was with the man when emergency services arrived.

The woman was described as ‘hysterical’.

‘The only witness we have is extremely distressed,’ he said.

‘We’ve taken her back to the police station to try and calm her down and find out what happened.’

The police said the woman, who was uninjured, was not considered a suspect.
