A 70-year-old man with no immediate friends was left to rot inside his home as heartless thieves repeatedly ransacked the property for months.

Police found the man’s body inside the Lynwood home, in Perth’s southeast, on Monday after a neighbour reported seeing suspicious activity.

It is believed the crooks had broken into the property to take what they wanted multiple times, however they never called police about the body.

While it is no clear when the man died, it is believed he had been dead long before the thieves broke in.

Neighbours told 7news the owner had been a recluse and they were unsure if he had any family.

‘It’s very sad,’ neighbour Joe Kraszlan said.

‘People who live around here know each other for a long time and people don’t move around too often.
