Deadliest Catch vet Jerod Sechrist arrested for felony heroin possession when he is taken into custody for an outstanding reckless driving charge

Jerod Sechrist of the popular TV show Deadliest Catch star was arrested in Florida on October 5.

The reality TV star was hit with a felony possession of heroin and a misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office inmate database.

The 33-year-old fisherman stood out on his show for now being able to identify the sex of the crabs, causing the crew to be dinged for unlawfully catching females.

He was on three episodes in 2016 and went by the name Captain Caution. Jerod was also on Deadliest Catch: The Bait. 

The arrest took place in Tampa, Florida. But the drug arrest happened by accident, according to a police report obtained by TMZ.

The police were looked for Sechrist because there was an ‘open warrant’ last week for him stemming from an old reckless driving case.

The officers brought him into the station at 3 am to be booked.

And while they were checking him in, they found a ‘small clear bag in his pocket with a white powder substance inside.’

A drug test was immediately administered and the results showed the substance was heroin.

He has at least one child, daughter Ashlynn. 

According to his bio on Discovery.com: ‘Jerod used to split his time between working in a shipyard and crabbing and could not be happier to return to Dutch Harbor. 

‘He’s decided to go all in and start fishing full time so he can spend more time with his daughter in the offseason.’

Deadliest Catch is a reality TV show that first aired in 2005. It’s about the perils of hunting for Alaska King Crab and Snow Crab in the Bering Sea which can have 40ft waves. Stars of the show include Sig Hansen, Edgar Hansen and Jake Anderson with Mike Rowe as narrator.

The show, which just saw its 15th season, airs on the Discovery Channel.

Another Deadliest Catch star also had a brush with the law this year.

Jake Harris, who is the son of the late Captain Phil Harris, was sentenced to 18 months in jail in August for leading police on a chase in Washington. He appeared on the series until 2012.
