Death of LA model Christy Giles who was dumped outside hospital by three masked men ruled homicide

A model whose body was dumped outside an LA hospital following a warehouse party died of a drug overdose that has been ruled a homicide.

Christy Giles, 24, had four illegal substances in her bloodstream at the time of her November 2021 death; cocaine, fentanyl, ketamine and GHB – best known as the ‘date rape’ drug, according to an autopsy.

Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office also ruled that Giles’ friend Hilda Marcela Cabrales-Arzola, 26, suffered a fatal drug overdose at the same party, People reported.

Cabrales-Arzola was dumped outside another LA hospital the same evening as Giles, and died following two weeks in a coma.

The coroner’s report said she had drugs including cocaine and MDMA in her system, and died of a drug overdose, as well as multiple organ failure caused by the drugs she’d taken.

The women were seen being dumped by three masked men driving a Toyota Prius with no license plates. Their families have claimed that they did not take the drugs that killed them willingly, but cops have yet to comment further on those allegations.

Surveillance footage recorded the men dumping Cabrales’ unconscious body outside Kaiser Permanente hospital in West LA.

Hollywood producer David Pearce, who was pictured partying with Cabralez-Arzola hours before her death, was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter, but has yet to be charged in connection with the death.

He is being held on $3.4m bail on separate rape charges, and is accused of searching for countries that do not have an extradition treaty with the US.

Pearce was arrested by Los Angeles Police in December after allegedly sexually assaulting four women in 2010, 2019, February 2020 and October 2020 in crimes not connected to the deaths of Giles and Cabralez-Arzola.

He is now facing two counts of forcible rape, one count of raping an unconscious or asleep person, and one count of sexual penetration with a foreign object related to the alleged incidents.

Michael Ansbach, 47, as well as Brandt Osborn, 42, were charged with accessory to manslaughter charges but later were reduced to a detention in connection with Giles and Cabrales-Arzola’s death.

Giles died of multiple drug intoxication, including cocaine, fentanyl, gamma-hydroxybutyric acid – also known as ‘the date rape drug’ – and ketamine.

Cabrales-Arzola’s death was ruled to be from multiple organ failure and multiple drug intoxication, with cocaine, methylenedioxymethamphetamine, and other drugs found in her system.

Pearce’s defense attorney, Jacob Gluckman, previously filed a motion seeking to reduce his bail amount and have him released from jail with a GPS ankle monitor, reported the New York Post.

Pearce is also facing charges of forcible rape as well as one count of rape of an unconscious or asleep person as well as a charge of sexual penetration by a foreign object in relation to separate incidents dating back over a decade.

Investigators also found a passport and $30,000 in Pearce’s car at the time he was arrested, according to the report. His defense attorney argued in late January that Pearce’s bail should be reduced to $100,000, as it was set at $3.4 million.

Records from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office reveal that both deaths are being ruled as homicides.

Giles’ husband, Jan Cilliers, previously said he wants all three men to pay the penalty.

‘I’m kind of hoping they at least get charged with murder,’ Cilliers told Fox News. ‘I’m going to do what I can to get the most serious charges against them.’

Cabrales was an interior designer who had just moved to Los Angeles from Mexico in July to take a job as project manager for a design company. She graduated cum laude as an architect from Monterrey University two years ago.

She and Giles went out to the SoHo House in downtown LA and then a nearby warehouse party on the night they died.

The two women left the party in downtown LA with men they allegedly met and ended up at an apartment building in West LA, the third friend who left early said.

Christy’s mother Dusty, of Dora, Alabama, was the first family member to receive the shocking news of her death and had spoken to her just hours earlier.

She said her daughter grew up as a southern belle with a fierce independence, was scouted to play soccer for college teams but chose modeling instead, signing with Wilhelmina Models at age 14.

She described a vibrant woman who was down-to-earth and ‘brutally honest’ with her friends and family, and remained close and loving to her siblings and parents despite glamorous moves to London, Miami, and Los Angeles pursuing her modeling career.

Dusty told DailyMail.com that Arzola’s hospital toxicology reports showed trace amounts of cocaine and ‘molly’ or ecstasy in her blood, as well as larger amounts of heroin, but that the LA coroner had not yet reported Christy’s results.

She said that texts between the girls also suggested they were taking cocaine at a warehouse party in East LA late last Friday night, after stopping by an event at Soho House in West Hollywood.

The grieving mom said she didn’t agree with her daughter’s recreational drug use but that Christy was always open and honest about it – and that her daughter was also adamant she would never take heroin, after seeing her close cousin become addicted and her close friend’s ex die of an overdose.

The mother said Arzola – who had only recently moved to LA from Mexico – also despised heroin according to family and friends.

Dusty said she was unsurprised by the references to drug use.

‘My daughter by no means was an angel. She lived her life very unapologetically, and was brutally honest and truthful with her family, regardless if we agreed with it or not, because she knew that we loved her unconditionally,’ she said.
