Debra Messing and Katharine McPhee look like long-lost sisters during emotional reunion on Broadway

Debra Messing and Katharine McPhee were back together, only this time on Broadway.

The former Smash co-stars got got giddy and emotional when Debra visited Katharine backstage after her performance in Waitress the musical at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre in New York City on Saturday.

The gal pals hugged it out for a few photos by themselves, as well as with the entire cast.

Katharine looked cool but casual wearing a white one-piece outfit that resembled a jumpsuit but with shorts.  It had a belt to highlight here slender but curvy figure. 

She rounded out her look with white sneakers and her hair in a dark bob-cut, for now. The former American Idol star admits she has been a bit of a serial-hair dyer.

As for Debra, she went with a very youthful look with a white blazer with black trim, black leather pants and black clog shoes.  She had her famous red locks pulled back off her face that showcased her big huge smile.

The ladies have more reasons to smile. 

Just last week, Katharine, 34, won a Broadway.com Audience Choice Award for her Broadway debut in Waitress, in the role previously played by Sara Bareilles. While, Debra, 49, has another hit with the reboot of Will & Grace. It has already been renewed for both a tenth and eleventh season.

Katharine and Debra have some history together when it comes to musicals. They starred together in the TV show Smash. It revolved around a group of characters who created Broadway musicals, where everyone must balance their often chaotic personal life with the all-consuming demands of life in the theater.

It garnered some critical success when it premiered in 2012 that also included a nomination for a Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series– Musical or Comedy. However, the show was cancelled after the second season in 2013.
