It was the debut of her latest play on Broadway.

And Debra Messing certainly shined like the star that she is.

The 57-year-old leading actress certainly turned heads on the red carpet for opening night of her latest Broadway play Birthday Candles on Sunday night.

In the Noah Haidle play, Messing plays Ernestine Ashworth as she recreates the same birthday cake each year as she ages from 17 to 101 without any external signs of aging.

As if being the leading actress wasn’t enough, she was definitely the center of attention as she shined like the sun in a bright yellow gown.

Her signature red tresses were put in an elegant updo as it was braided toward the back.

Messing was also joined on the red carpet by a pair of New York Fire Department firefighters on the red carpet.

She had plenty of support from her famous friends as Ali Wentworth and Mariska Hargitay stepped out in a pair of brightly-colored pantsuits as they attended opening night.

The Head Case actress, 57, donned a hot pink pantsuit with a black and white scarf wrapped around her neck. 

She held a green purse in her hand, and her blonde locks were parted in the middle and fell in graceful swoops down to her shoulders.

Holding tight: Wentworth came up behind Hargitay and gave her a big squeeze around the middle

Wentworth came up behind Hargitay and gave her a big squeeze around the middle which seemed to put the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit into a laughing fit. 

Hargitay, 58, donned a bright red blazer and a pair of matching pants to the big night. 

Her light brown hair was swept out of her eyes and she donned a black shirt underneath the blazer, and she walked in a pair of flesh-colored heels.

Wentworth and Hargitay weren’t the only famous faces who made it out to the event. 

Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston wore a dark blue blazer over a a gray sweater. He added simple blue jeans and black dress shoes to the muted ensemble.

Inside Out voice actor Richard Kind wore a simple black suit with a striped blue button-down shirt though he decided to forego the tie. 

Hocus Pocus actress Kathy Najimy donned a leather jacket over an off-the-shoulder black dress that fell all the way down to the floor.

Muted: Siriano kept his outfit low-key with a handsome black blazer, tight black slacks and a pair of dress shoes with small buckles on top

Splashes of color: Blair Underwood of Set It Off fame looked stylish in a plaid gray dinner jacket over a white t-shirt and a pair of white skinny jeans

Very stylish: Fashion designer Christian Siriano and actor Blair Underwood both turned up to the event in classy ensembles

Famed fashion designer Christian Siriano kept his outfit low-key with a handsome black blazer, tight black slacks and a pair of dress shoes with small buckles on top. 

Blair Underwood of Set It Off fame looked stylish in a plaid gray dinner jacket over a white t-shirt and a pair of white skinny jeans. He added a wide-brimmed hat and colorful sneakers to his relaxed look. 

Once inside, the group of celebs watched Will and Grace actress Debra who put on a show in a bright yellow sundress.  Her bright red locks were swept out of her face and her curly tresses collected on her shoulders.  

Messing put her hands over her heart and bowed to the crowd as praise was heaped upon her.
