She’s the much-loved Australian singer with almost two decades in the spotlight.

And in the lead-up to the May 14 release of her book Bridge Over Troubled Dreams, Delta Goodrem has given fans a rare insight into her younger years.

Posting to her Instagram on Monday, the 36-year-old songstress shared an excerpt from the much-anticipated tome.

Secrets galore: In the lead-up to the May 14 release of her book Bridge Over Troubled Dreams, Delta Goodrem has given fans a rare insight into her younger years

‘Dreams don’t have an expiry date and that’s been a really important lesson for me. That’s why it’s such a prominent theme on the album,’ she writes.

The Think About You singer then reflected on how the events that took place in her early 20s went on to shape her.

‘When you’re in your twenties, your early twenties in particular, there’s a mixture of invincibility and excitement as you embark on adulthood, but there’s an innocence underlying it all, too,’ Delta adds.

‘What I wanted to portray through this record is the view from the next level; from the perspective of having lived it and breathed it.’

In a follow up post, Delta took to her Instagram Stories to share a quote from a random page in the book.

The page is number 17 and it included a picture of Delta alongside her partner, Matthew Copley.

While it’s not confirmed if it is a direct quote from the musician, it read: ‘I’m in this for the long haul I always have been. It’s a marathon not a sprint.’

Despite not going into much detail with the excerpt, Delta experienced world-wide fame, a cancer diagnosis, and multiple relationship breakdowns in the public eye during her 20s.

And it appears her mid-thirties have been a good time for self-reflection for Delta.

In March, she told Body+Soul she learnt to surround herself with the right people in life during her 30s.

‘In this decade, I learnt to be careful of who you surround yourself with,’ she said.

‘Everyone experiences, from time to time, being let down by some people who you have in your life, and I definitely learnt that lesson in my 20s.’

Delta also said she’s ‘grateful’ for her experiences because it’s taught her to let things go.

‘I can look back now and be grateful for what I did learn then, and my ability to now let things go and move on… That’s another lesson – moving forward without letting challenges hold you back,’ she explained.

It comes after Delta revealed her stratospheric rise to fame was so consuming, that she didn’t get to try her first alcoholic beverage until she was 27.

‘I’d worked from such a young age that it wasn’t until my late twenties that I finally started to have my teenage years,’ she told The Daily Telegraph last week.

She added: ‘I had so much going on in my teens there wasn’t really the space to have a few drinks and have my friends look after me.

‘But in my late twenties I had that period of self-discovery, things had started to get a bit much for me around that time.’
