Demi Lovato and Zara Larrson defend Halsey for armpit hair on the cover of Rolling Stone

Halsey has sent the internet into a bit of a meltdown with her new Rolling Stone cover, in which she proudly poses with her arms behind her head — exposing plenty of noticeable armpit stubble.

The singer didn’t hide or Photoshop out her body hair for the cover of the magazine’s Hot Issue this month, and its led some critics to call her out leave her unflattering comments.

But many have also come to her defense and applauded the movie, including fellow stars Demi Lovato and Zara Larrson.

Halsey shared the cover on Instagram on Monday.

In the image, she wears minimal makeup and a right white tank top, holding her elbows out and her hands behind her neck.

The pose exposes her armpits to the camera, offering a surprising view of dark armpit stubble — something rarely seen in magazines, much less from a huge pop star on the cover of Rolling Stone.

The controversial move soon had critics weighing in, with one writing: ‘The hairy armpits are a bit much.’

‘They’re called razors, try one sometime,’ a man chimed in.

Several urged her to shave or expressed confusion that the photo editors didn’t Photoshop out the hair.

‘There so much yes about this picture idk where to start,’ she wrote.

Zara Larrson, meanwhile took to Twitter to share her praise: ‘I loooove the fact that they didn’t edit the armpits like most magazines would do. Women are not little babies who don’t have body hair. Stunning cover.’

Model Hari Nef, makeup artist Denika Bedrossian, musician Andrew Watt, actresses Jessie Paege and Julia Kelly, and Steve Aoki also left supportive Instagram comments.

Fans also defended her, with one writing: ‘I love the armpit hair so much. Disappointed by the people in the comments telling her to shave or “letting her know” it’s there.’

‘Have you guys ever seen a woman? Our armpits are not all smooth and it’s something normal!’ wrote another.

‘The funniest thing is that 90% of these comments are written by men who have absolutely nothing to say about what a woman should do to her body, the other 10% who are women makes me actually very sad, women should all be supporting each other and knowing that they can have hair and that is not something they should be ashamed of.’

‘I wish my stubby armpits looked that hot,’ wrote yet another.
