Demi Lovato’s bodyguard ‘wouldn’t give a s**t’ about’ Las Vegas prostitute ‘prank’, says ex-boss

Demi Lovato has apologised after revealing in a Twitter Q&A that she hired a ‘lady of the night’ to ‘surprise’ her bodyguard, Max Lea, in his hotel room.

Some fans accused Demi of arranging a ‘sexual assault’ – but Max’s former employer, Australian DJ Kyle Sandilands, has claimed he wouldn’t have been offended.

‘Let me tell you, knowing Max, he wouldn’t give a s**t!’ Kyle, 46, said on KIIS FM’s The Kyle and Jackie O Show on Tuesday morning.

‘I’ve done worse things to Max, just quietly,’ Kyle added. ‘Max is fine.’

The shock jock, who has been described as ‘Australia’s Howard Stern’, claimed that Max was subjected to more awkward encounters while working as his bodyguard.

‘Max has driven me around when someone was [censored] me in the back seat,’ Kyle said. ‘Max would be like, “Do you want me to get out?”

‘And I’d go, “You’re alright, stay there”. He sit there in the car park at Fox Studios looking straight ahead.

‘He had the music up obviously so he didn’t hear any noises.’

Kyle continued: ‘That’s what you do to staff. When you’re a celebrity, you’re allowed to abuse your staff like that.’

The controversy surrounding Demi Lovato’s comments began when she answered questions from her Twitter followers after performing in Sweden over the weekend.

Everything seemed to go smoothly, that is, until she tweeted about the ‘funniest prank she ever pulled’.

‘I hired a lady of the night in Vegas and sent her to Max’s hotel room to surprise him. She walked into his room without permission and grabbed him in his area and he freaked the f**k out,’ Demi wrote in a since-deleted tweet.

There was immediate backlash. Some fans argued that hiring a woman to touch Max without his consent was a form of sexual assault, with one of them tweeting that she was ‘disgusted’ over it.

Initially, Demi defended herself by tweeting, “I swear I could tweet something about craving jelly beans and it would offend someone.”

But, as the backlash mounted, she urged fans to listen to her song Warrior.

‘Maybe you’ll have more compassion for someone who made a simple mistake,’ she wrote. ‘Of all people I know about sexual abuse. You don’t have to educate me.’

Five minutes later, she tweeted an apology: ‘So sorry if anyone was offended.’

Max himself has also taken to social media and defended Demi.

He wrote: ‘Really! You guys all need to grow up! It was a joke and a fun prank from someone whose incredible to work for and with. And does everything she can for her fans, family and friends.’
