Denise Van Outen bags brand new Channel 4 show

Denise Van Outen has reportedly bagged a brand new Channel 4 show.

And her latest venture is worlds away from the likes of the channel’s Celebrity Gogglebox and Steph’s Packed Lunch – both of which she makes regular appearances on.

Instead, Denise will front a new show for the broadcaster about air fryers and the nation’s obsession with them, The Sun claims.

The TV star’s new show, which hits screens later this month, will explore the technology and science behind the the appliances which have swept across the UK.

However upon hearing the news, baffled TV fans have shared their bewilderment about the show’s unique subject matter – with many making humorous quips about it.

Air Fryers Are They Worth It will also answer questions on what people can and cannot cook in them as well as querying whether they are good for your health.

The former Big Breakfast host will test out recipes and conduct taste tests on the programme.

However, while Denise is no doubt excited about her new job, the same couldn’t be said for several TV lovers.

After TV Zone tweeted the news about Denise ‘exploring the UK’s obsession’ with air fryers, many baffled people have questioned the subject matter of the show.

‘It’s not an obsession it’s just a food cooking device! What’s next? The UKs obsession with Toasters or the once a year dalliance with the breville?’ tweeted one.

While another shared: ‘Hundreds of the UK’s talented development producers sigh and throw their notepads on a bonfire!’

A third sarcastic tweeter put: ‘Can’t miss tv’, with a fourth adding: ‘How thrilling’.

Another shared: ‘You just tweeted about some C4 shows being axed “for cost cutting measures” So how much does this cost to make and also WHO IS WATCHING THIS.’

With an additional fan humorously remarking: ‘can’t wait for itv to do an adaptation of this documentary as a drama starring sheridan smith as the air fryer.’

The compact kitchen appliance, which retails at anywhere between around £40 and £400, works by baking food place into its basket at a high temperature – usually 200 degrees – with a high-powered fan circulating the heat.

Air fryers have been growing in popularity in recent years, largely driven by health-conscious cooks who want all the crisp and crunch of a deep fat fryer without the grease – food cooked in them requires a minimal amount of oil.

It comes following the news that Big Breakfast hosts Denise and Johnny Vaughan are set to reunite on screen for the first time in nearly 20 years.
