A Maryland woman found a live worm in cod fish she bought from Costco, and she caught the harrowing moment on tape.

The disgusting video shows the small worm wriggling free of the fish underneath the protective cellophane wrapping.

‘When we took the video to Costco to get our money back the girl behind the counter said someone had just returned salmon with worms in it. No apologies at all,’ Randolph said on her Facebook page.

‘She acted as if this happens all the time. I’m so grossed out,’ Randolph added.

In the video, Randolph shows the circled ‘sell by’ date of February 12 – three days after she reportedly bought the fish.

The video has been shared over 6,000 times since it was posted last week, eliciting many strong reactions.

‘I’m so grossed out,’ Randolph said of the disgusting experience

‘I purchased ground beef and all on the outside was bright red but inside was brown Not happy with their meat. Will not buy any meat or seafood from there,’ Facebook user Donna Andrews said of her own Costco purchases in the video’s comments section.

Other Facebook users were less worried about the worm – stating that cooking it properly would take care of the issue.

‘Cooking takes care of it – they all (fish) have parasites,’ Facebook user Linda King Helbeck said.

Randolph also issued a warning to other consumers in her post.

‘Check your food people,’ she said.
