Denver radio host and former Trump supporter says he was cut off on air and then fired for criticizing president

  • The former Trump fan was discussing the president’s former attorney Roy Cohn
  • ‘I cannot and will not toe strict Trump party line,’ he tweeted following his firing
  • The former chief deputy district attorney in Denver has hosted his own show for five years but his page on KNUS’ website now appears to have been removed

A Denver radio host says he was cut off on air and then fired for criticizing Donald Trump during his broadcast on Saturday.

Craig Silverman told the Denver Post that program director Kelly Michaels at 710 KNUS warned him ‘you’re done’ right in the middle of his morning show.

Silverman, a former Trump supporter who voted for the Republican in 2016, says he had been discussing the president’s former personal attorney Roy Cohn when he was suddenly stopped.

Following his alleged dismissal Silverman tweeted: ‘I cannot and will not toe strict Trump party line. I call things as I see them. I see corruption and blatant dishonesty by President and his cronies. I also see bullying/smearing of American heroes w/courage to take oath and tell truth. Their bravery inspires me.’

Silverman’s tweet came in response to a post from Democrat Rep. Dylan Roberts who said: ‘Sad day for Colorado and the First Amendment. Toe the Trump line instead of talking about law and facts if you want a show? “Sad, @710KNUS”…as our President would say.

‘Always enjoyed listening to @craigscolorado’s show via podcast. Hope he finds a place to land. #copolitics.’

Silverman’s page on conservative leaning KNUS website also appears to have been removed with only an error message showing.

The former chief deputy district attorney in Denver has hosted The Craig Silverman Show on Saturday mornings for more than five years, The Denver Post reports.

He told the paper his last segment before he fired was to ‘observe how toxic Trump is in Colorado’.

He added: ‘And to continue my show theme today that Democrats are making a strong case at the House impeachment hearing.’

On Friday Silverman wrote in support of former Ukraine Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch as she testified in the impeachment hearings, according to Fox31.

He reportedly wrote: ‘Yovanovitch is an American hero. I have seen countless witnesses testify and she was one of the all-time finest. Her poise, courage and credibility inspire me.’

Salem Media Group, which specializes in Christian and conservative content, own KNUS.

Republican presidential candidate Joe Walsh tweeted: ‘Pathetic. @craigscolorado was a great, honest voice on the radio. But @SalemMediaGrp & almost all of conservative talk radio don’t want honesty.

‘They want Trump worship. Salem got rid of @MedvedSHOW because he wouldn’t worship Trump & they pressured me to worship Trump. Pathetic.’

Silverman replied: ‘I’ve had @walshfreedom on my radio show twice since he declared for Prez. Each time, I asked Joe if any other Salem host had invited him on.

‘Not a one, Joe told me, which is amazing since he’s such a great interview. Ask Joe a question and he gives you a direct crisp answer.’
