He’s back! Vigilante Robert McCall (Denzel Washington) has come out of retirement to protect his peaceful new home in an action-packed trailer for the final installment of The Equalizer trilogy

The trailer begins showing Robert in his latest quiet chapter in Italy, where he befriends locals and enjoys a slower-paced life.

‘What did you do back home?’ One of the locals asks him, before viewers are given a brief glimpse into his violent past.

‘Government work. I’m retired now,’ Robert replies.

His past life seems fully behind him as he embraces his tranquil new lifestyle.

‘Because of these people I’m beginning to understand real peace,’ Robert muses. ‘And I’m starting to believe this is where I’m supposed to be.’

‘They see you as one of us now,’ a woman tells Robert, who appears in awe at the realization.

But it doesn’t take long before violence threatens his community. A car is bombed in the middle of the town’s square, setting off a chain of events that see Robert return to his old ways.

The explosion also signals the presence of the mafia.

‘What happens here happens in many towns,’ one man informs Robert. ‘The mafia. They’re like cancer. No cure.’

But Robert isn’t willing to accept this fate.

Robert stands up to one of the members after he interrupts a quiet dinner at a restaurant.

‘You should stay out of people’s business,’ the mafia member tells Robert.

‘Whatever it is, you and your friends do,’ Robert begins coldly. ‘Do it somewhere else.’

‘You warning me?’ the man asks.

‘I’m preparing,’ Robert replies, to the man’s amusement. Moments later, Robert has the man groaning in pain as he grabs his hand and overpowers him.

‘That’s the median nerve that I’m compressing,’ Robert calmly informs him. ‘That’s a level three. If it goes to level four, you will s**t on yourself.’

It becomes clear Robert has momentarily come out of retirement to take out the mafia who have wrecked havoc on his refuge.

‘You seem like a man who understands violence,’ one mob member remarks.

‘I like this place,’ Robert says. ‘You can’t take that from me.’

‘I can take anything I want,’ the mob member replies.

And it’s clear he’s not afraid to take things to a fatal level.

Over coffee with Dakota Fanning’s character, he is asked about recent killings at a farm.

‘Police found multiple dead bodies at that farm in Sicily,’ Dakota remarks. ‘Did you kill them?’ she asks.

Despite being outnumbered, Robert is then shown effortlessly taking down the foes.

He tells Dakota with a chuckle, ‘Do I look like a killer?’
