He turned 47 in May this year, despite looking much younger.

And Dermot O’Leary was feeling nostalgic on Saturday, as he shared an incredible throwback picture from his youth while hosting his BBC Radio 2 show.

The beloved broadcaster looked almost unrecognisable in the image he dug up for his, It’s 80s takeover segment, at 8am.

In the image from the late 80s, Dermot displayed his slender frame in a white vest and trousers.  He rocked a spiky hairstyle, a stark contrast to his neat brunette cut that has become his staple look.

The young Dermot looked noticeably sun-kissed as he covered his drink and gazed into the camera lens with a pout on display.

The TV host welcomed his first child, Kasper, in June with his wife Dee Koppang O’Leary, and time will tell if he bears a striking resemblance to the young Dermot captured in the snap.

Dermot revealed in September that the coronavirus pandemic has allowed him to spend quality time with their newborn, and he encouraged other couples not to give up if they are struggling to conceive.

Speaking to The Sun’s Fabulous magazine, he said: ‘Don’t lose hope…

‘Just keep going and you’ll find resolution one way or another, whether it’s through adoption or IVF or whatever.

‘Because if you really want to be a parent and you want to bring a kid up in a loving, nurturing and supportive household, then you should do your utmost to do so.

‘And I know it’s very easy to say these things, because none of that is science. But there are always ways.’

Dermot added that one day, when Dee is ready, they will share their journey to becoming parents in the hopes that it will help other couples trying to have children.
