Hypnotist Derren Brown has revealed how a paralysed woman ‘came to him in tears’ because she could move her arm for the first time in more than thirty years.
In his 2015 stage show Miracle – filmed for Netflix – Brown publicly employed tricks he had observed from faith healers.
The miracle moment happened when Brown, 51, tried a ‘faith healing’ element as part of the tour, but said the segment was not advertised in advance because he ‘didn’t want people coming to the show needing healings’.
According to The Telegraph, he said: ‘The people that do faith healing in real life are doing it for a room of believers that are psychologically ready to go and expecting it and needing it.
‘And it was the total opposite with me.’
The Miracle audience, he added, are ‘all skeptical like me. They know that I’m not doing it for real.’

Yet, speaking of the woman with the paralysed arm, he said: ‘In the first week, a woman came up and she was in her 30s or 40s.
‘She was in tears because she had been paralysed on one side of her body since she was a kid, and now she could move her arm for the first time.
‘Most nights there was something like that. It was an extraordinary thing to be doing night after night, and seeing how powerful that psychological component of people’s suffering was.’
After the filming of his Netflix show, Miracle, Mr Brown said: ‘It was an extraordinary thing to be doing night after night’. ‘It was a very profound and very real experience for people,’ he added
He added: ‘So there wasn’t as impossible supernatural thing…that certain percentage that was responding to what I was doing, an even smaller percentage, years later, would say they are still cured.’
Speaking about the miracle on the Full Disclosure podcast, Mr Brown said: ‘If you took an X-ray before and after, clearly nothing’s changed, but somehow her story that she’s living out about her condition has changed in that moment and she’s realised she’s actually freer than she had realised before.
‘It was a very profound and very real experience for people,’ he said.
Meanwhile, Brown has been known to perform other miraculous and unbelievable acts, such as healing a blind woman’s eyesight on television and getting a woman to eat glass.
