Desperate 911 call from Mac Miller’s friend released after rapper dies of apparent overdose

A desperate 911 call made by a friend of rapper Mac Miller on the night he died has been released.

The tape, which is heavily redacted, features a male voice begging emergency services to hurry to the 26-year-old’s Los Angeles home, TMZ reported.

Miller was found dead from an apparent overdose on Friday, with law enforcement sources claiming he had died from an overdose hours before they arrived.

The man who called 911 is heard breaking down into tears, suggesting he knew the performer was in a dire state.

It is not known if the man was with him at the time, as he told the dispatcher he had last spoken with Miller ‘yesterday’.

The call was released after reports claimed police were suspicious of how long Miller had been dead for before they arrived at the home, and of how little drug paraphernalia was on the premises.

Law enforcement sources say Miller had been dead long before emergency services arrived at his Los Angeles home, and only a small trace of white powder was found, leading them to believe it had been swept clean.

As officials believe the rapper died of an overdose, sources say the condition of his home made no sense, because a person who had overdosed would not have the foresight to clear their house of drug paraphernalia.

A full toxicology report will not be finalized for four to six weeks, meaning despite the preliminary conclusions of authorities, Miller’s death certificate still states his cause of death as ‘deferred’.

Sources also told TMZ they believe the performer had died hours before they arrived at the scene following a call to 911.

It was initially thought he suffered a cardiac arrest but that could have been because the emergency caller did not realize he was already dead.
