The man suspected of opening fire at concertgoers attending a country music festival in Las Vegas on Sunday night was a local resident with no prior criminal convictions in the state of Nevada.

Stephen Paddock, 64, lived just 90 minutes outside Las Vegas in the city of Mesquite, where he purchased a home in a retirement community for just over $369,000 in 2015 according to public records.

He lived there with 62-year-old Marilou Danley according to records, the same woman police now have in custody as they begin their investigation into the horrific terror attack.

Paddock had both hunting and fishing licenses according to public records, as well as his pilot’s license, but no criminal record in the state of Nevada.

He may have worked as an internal auditor at Lockheed Martin for some time, and managed an apartment building complex in Mesquite, Texas.

Paddock also had no social media presence which has made it difficult to find images of the man and stand up the information revealed in these records

Paddock was already dead when police arrived at the room from which the gunman had opened fire at the Manderlay Bay Resort on Sunday night.

It marked the end of what has now become the deadliest mass shooting in modern US history, which left over 50 dead and 200 injured.

Police said in a press conference early Monday that that they discovered ‘numerous firearms’ in Paddock’s room after breaching the door to take him out, and were not yet able to give a possible motive for the shooting.

His Mesquite home is now being searched by officials, who have closed off a large perimeter around the Nevada property to keep the public and media at bay.

The gunman began shooting at the crowd from a balcony outside a room on the 32nd floor of the Manderlay Bay Resort at around 10pm on Sunday
