Detectives make second arrest over fatal stabbing of teen

A second teenager was today arrested after a murder investigation was launched when another youngster was stabbed to death.

Kyle Yule, 17, died on Friday night in Gillingham, Kent, after witnesses said he was chased by a group of people damaging a silver Renault Clio.

A Kent Police spokesman said he was reported to have run from the vehicle while being chased before being stabbed.

Kyle was rushed to hospital after at 8.10pm but died shortly afterwards and the next of kin of the former Brompton Academy pupil were informed.

Police officers investigating the violent crime quickly arrested a 15-year-old boy on suspicion of murder and today also arrested an 18-year-old man on suspicion of the crime.

Both teenagers, from the Gillingham area of Kent, were in police custody today.

Police say after the incident the Renault Clio was reported to have been moved and found parked in a different location, in Cleveland Road.

They are also seeking information from anyone who may have noticed this vehicle being moved or saw anything suspicious. 

Kyle’s friends took to social media to pay tribute to him yesterday.

Chanel White wrote: ‘R.I.P! Kyle Yule! Taken far too soon! At just 17 years! Such a cruel world we live in! Rest in piece (sic) boy! Fly high!’

Ellie Douglas said: ‘Rip Kyle Yule, life’s being taken way too soon it actually breaks my heart.’

Kat Mcallister added: ‘Rest in peace Kyle Yule gone too soon but never forgotten, thoughts go out to your family and friends! You were always so happy and you touched many lives.’

Another friend said he hoped the ‘horrible b*****ds’ who killed Kyle would be found. ‘This world is actually so f**ed,’ he said. 

His mother, Nikki Yule, also posted a picture of her son on her Facebook page during the early hours of this morning.

She has been inundated with messages of support and sympathy from friends.

Collett Connell wrote: ‘Lots of love Nikki u should be proud you raised a beautiful boy we’re all here for you.’

On Saturday evening a large group of young people gathered in Gillingham High Street to pay respects to Kyle.

Chief Inspector Simon Alland, of Kent Police, said: ‘Officers attended and the gathering passed peacefully with no arrests.

‘It is understandable that local people have been shocked and saddened by this incident, but I would like to reassure them that we are continuing to liaise closely with Kyle’s family and are making swift progress with the investigation.’
