Brave members of the public stepped in to help a man who was injured and bleeding  

Footage shows a man, in his 20s, staggering around inside an Asda store in Dewsbury following the early-morning attack on Thursday. 

The graphic video, that emerged on social media, shows the man who suffered stab wounds to his face and back.

In the clip people can be seen trying to help the victim in the aftermath of the attack.

The victim then appears to sit on a chair before slumping to the ground as a staff member urges him to lay down.   

The attack happened at around 4.30am on Thursday and led to the temporary closure of the store.

West Yorkshire Police said they were called to the scene at 4.47am.

The victim was rushed to hospital with suffering lacerations to his face and stab wounds to his back.

A spokesman for Asda said in a statement: ‘Our Dewsbury store is back open and we will continue to assist police with their inquiries following the incident yesterday.’

‘We would like to thank our colleagues for their quick thinking to call the authorities and our customers for their understanding during this time,’ they added.

A police spokesperson added: ‘Enquiries are ongoing in the Mill Street West area to establish the circumstances and there will be an increased policing presence in the area.’
