Different forklifts accessories

You can’t limit yourself to regular forklifts accessories when it comes to handling a wide variety of materials in a supply chain or warehouse. You should be able to move and store a range of orders to meet customer needs or diversify the offers. That may require various forklift types, or at least specialized forklift attachments. There are three types of Forklift tires available: Cushion, Solid Pneumation and Air Pneumatic.

Tire s by forklifts

  • Cushion Tires: Cushion Tires consist of solid rubber and are pressed directly onto the axle. They sit down to the ground and give a smaller turning radius which offers a maneuverability advantage. Cushion tires are ideal mainly for use in indoor or asphalt applications, as they can combat on uneven surfaces like dirt.
  • Solid Pneumatic Tires: These are made of solid rubber, similar to a cushion tire, and are today the most common tire on the market. Commonly used for mixing indoor and outdoor uses are solid pneumatic tires. Strong pneumatic tires, though, do not give the same comfortable ride a cushion tire does over paved surfaces. The initial investment is low but is almost indestructible and has a very long life.
  • Air Filled Pneumatic Tires: These are made of rubber, but they are filled with air much like a tire for a vehicle or a truck. These have a deep bottom and are made of rubber fiber that is strong and durable. For rugged, rocky terrain, those tires are great.

Components that are application based

Some of the options below may provide additional benefits from your specific operation. There is no one-size-fits-all solution on whether to buy these or not. Alternatively, consider the proposal carefully, and the utility of each alternative within it.

  • Back-up alarms can give pedestrians a clear warning when the forklift is operating in reverse.
  • Flashing Lights / Strobes / Rotating Beacons will help the operator alert pedestrians of the forklift’s existence.
  • Mirrors can provide the operator with increased visibility
  • Ergonomics: Ergonomics may seem like a luxury, but adjustable seats and comforts can reduce the risk of stress injuries and make for a more productive day for an employee who spends his day on a forklift.
  • Attachments: Side shifters allow the operator to move the load from left to right without having to move the forklift. It allows the user to place the load precisely where they need it.
  • Side shifting / Fork Positioners require the fork distribution to be changed from the driver’s seat, thereby removing the need to change the forks manually.

Equipment managers and forklift operators should learn more about the installation of forklifts than they just do. Here are some things the manager should always bear in mind when dealing with it.

OSHA allows all operators to be qualified on all different forklift attachments that you are using, even if they have been trained on the same forklift without the modification previously.

The useful forklift accessories themselves count towards the cargo capacity of your lift vehicle. Make sure to keep that in mind while you work. When using a modern forklift attachment, the weight distribution without that attachment would possibly be different from the standard use of the forklift. That’s one of the reasons that additional training is a must. Any forklift fitted with an adapter is legal “partially loaded” for legal purposes, even if the forklift is not carrying a load itself.

SIDE SHIFTER

Forklift side shifters are probably the most common fastener. This requires both forks to move horizontally side by side to better align themselves with pallets. This allows the lift operator to make minor racking adjustments without having the entire lift truck moving around.

FORK POSITIONERS

Similar to side shifters, positioners forklifts allow the tines to move horizontally but in a different way. Fork positioners allow you to push the tines closer or further apart, allowing an operator to adapt to multiple pallet styles, or handle non-standard material.
