The former ALP powerbroker was jailed in December 2016 for at least three years after being found guilty of misconduct in public office between August and November 2007.

His maximum term was five years.

The earliest date of his release will be December 14, the New South Wales State Parole Authority said in a statement on Friday.

In granting Obeid parole, the SPA ordered the former politician to comply with 11 standard conditions.

The parole authority also imposed a further condition ‘that he not engage in any activity paid or unpaid involving the control of money or assets of other people or organisations’.
