The young doctor who was repeatedly stabbed and doused in petrol in her own home by her crazed ex-boyfriend has shared a photo of the scars online.
Angela Jay was brutally attacked by Paul Lambert, 36, who broke into her Port Macquarie home in November 2016 before stabbing her 11 times ‘wanting to destroy [her]’.
A year after the violent assault, Dr Jay shared a photo of a scar on her thigh and forearm to social media.

‘Even when there are physical scars to see, it’s the scars you can’t that hurt the most,’ Dr Jay wrote beside the photo.
‘A year ago today my life changed forever.
‘I narrowly escaped murder, and a part of me definitely died that day.
‘I think about the terror I felt every day.
‘Sometimes it’s a brief thought when my scars ache or burn and other days the memory incessantly haunts me.
‘I’m so grateful to my family, friends and colleagues who have supported me over the last year and continue to give me strength as I struggle along.’
The 28-year-old doctor met Lambert, who was later shot dead by police, on Tinder before ending their relationship after six weeks because he was too possessive.
Lambert was waiting for Dr Jay to finish her shift at the local hospital before he grabbed her by the mouth with a knife in one hand.

Realising she was going to die, Dr Jay ran but was quickly caught by the 36-year-old man.
‘I didn’t actually feel him stabbing me but I could see the blood when I looked down,’ Dr Jay told Sunday Night in May this year.
‘I just thought in my head, “Oh my God he’s actually stabbing me, he’s going to actually kill me”.’
Feeling ‘scared and alone’, Lambert poured petrol over Dr Jay’s head before she was able to escape to her neighbours next door.
There, the young doctor instructed her neighbour to perform first aid because she thought she was going to ‘bleed to death’ in their garage while they waited for the ambulance.

With many of the ‘stab wounds in [her] legs and hip’, Dr Jay said she wanted people to see the ‘true message’ of domestic violence
Meanwhile, Lambert fled the scene in a white hire car leading police on a wild chase for 150 kilometres up the Pacific Highway.
The 36-year-old was forced off the road by police, who he then charged at with a knife before being shot dead.
‘[It was] Almost a euphoric sense, like, you know, I somehow got away and he’s gone. I don’t have to worry… I’m well and truly safe,’ Dr Jay said.
Dr Jay, who said she felt like she was kept alive for a reason, aims to share the ‘significance of domestic violence’ and raised more than $80,000 for White Ribbon Australia.
