Does Jasmine Yarbrough blame Peter Stefanovic for Karl’s exit from Today?

‘She is fuming!’ Jasmine Yarbrough blames Peter Stefanovic’s Ubergate call for ‘leading to Karl’s demise’ at the Today show

Peter and Karl Stefanovic were fired from the Today show last week in a sensational shakeup of the breakfast show’s on-air talent.

And according to an unconfirmed report in New Idea magazine this week, Karl’s new bride Jasmine Yarbrough ‘blames’ Peter for setting off the chain of events that eventually ‘led to her husband’s demise’ on the Channel Nine program.

The publication claims the 34-year-old is ‘fuming’ and believes that Peter’s Ubergate call with Karl is one of the reasons that he was dropped as the co-host of Today.

Blame game: New Idea magazine reported on Monday that Karl Stefanovic’s wife Jasmine Yarbrough (pictured) partially blames Peter Stefanovic’s ‘Ubergate’ call for Karl getting dropped from the Today show

‘It was Pete who made the call in the Uber, Pete who put Karl on speaker phone, and Pete who moaned about the job sucking the life out of him,’ an insider told the publication.

The alleged insider added that Karl, who was on the receiving end of the infamous call, was simply ‘offering his brother a shoulder to cry on’ but ended up getting drawn into the drama.

However, insiders tell Daily Mail Australia that Jasmine actually has a fantastic relationship with her brother-in-law Peter and is fitting in well with the family.

In March, Peter and Karl were embroiled in the Ubergate scandal after their private phone conversation in a taxi was leaked to New Idea magazine.

During the conversation, Peter complained about his role on Weekend Today and the Stefanovic brothers also criticised Nine staffers and executives.

‘I hate working news, I’m dying on the inside and it makes me feel horrible,’ the Uber driver allegedly overheard Peter telling his older brother.

‘The life is draining out of me. I’m so much better than this and can do so much more, it’s the worst four days each week and I should be doing more.’

In the ‘b**chy’ 45-minute phone conversation, Karl also ‘angrily’ complained about Georgie, saying she needed to ‘step up… if she wanted to stay on the [Today] show.’

Last week, former Nine executive Rob McKnight revealed on his TV Blackbox website that Ubergate played a significant role in Peter’s departure from Channel Nine.

‘The fact Peter had his phone on speaker while b**ching about colleagues did not go down well with his bosses and with Karl’s power diminishing at the network after bad headlines and bad ratings, Peter was no longer protected,’ Rob wrote.

Peter officially exited Channel Nine last Tuesday, claiming that he was leaving the network to ‘explore new opportunities’ and was looking forward to spending time with his wife, Sylvia Jeffreys.

Meanwhile, Karl was dropped as co-host of the Today show on Wednesday, but will remain with Nine, as was Sylvia.

Meanwhile, Today’s longtime entertainment reporter Richard Wilkins had his role reduced as he was moved to the second-tier show Today Extra, with former Triple J star Brooke Boney taking his place on Today.
