An elderly dogwalker was dragged five miles to her death along a coastal road in Italy after she was hit by a car.
Sigrid Tschope, 81, was hit while walking her dog in Marzocca on the east coast of Italy on Saturday evening.
The German, who moved to Italy years ago, was first hit while crossing a road by a van whose driver immediately stopped to give her help.

But then, possibly while trying to rescue her dog, a second SUV slammed into her and failed to stop, snagging her in its wheels.
It continued to drive for five miles all the way to Senigallia in a journey lasting around eight minutes where her lifeless body was found on the side of the road.
It was raining heavily at the time and visibility was poor, but the driver of the second car never stopped.

Her body was spotted by another drive who called police, just minutes after they were informed of a dead dog near the Marzocca train station, lying beside one of Ms Tschope’s shoes.
The driver of the SUV is believed to be a 61-year-old man from the nearby town of Jesi.
The first van driver is also under investigation.
