Dolly Parton was revealed to be a secret producer of Buffy the Vampire Slayer… and fans are loving it

Buffy the Vampire Slayer created a dedicated fan base during its seven seasons on air from 1997 until 2003.

And fans just discovered the legend Dolly Parton was a secret producer on the show.

The 9 to 5 star co-founded Sandollar Entertainment in 1986, which went on to produce the supernatural show.

Sandollar Entertainment is credited at the end of every Buffy episode but the credits left out the company’s founders Dolly and her friend Sandy Gallin.

The show starred Sarah Michelle Gellar, Alyson Hannigan and David Boreanaz, and followed Gellar as the title character, a teenage last in a line of female vampire slayers.

Dolly’s company produced the 1992 film of the same name and the spinoff series Angel.

While another said: ‘Dolly Parton (a queen) was an uncredited producer for Buffy the Vampire Slayer (I’m not over Angel, tbh) and just…we don’t deserve her. None of us have done enough to be worthy of all this good emanating from one person.’

Though this wasn’t exactly a well kept secret as Dolly spoke about the series in a 2016 New York Times profile.

Dolly said she wrote Sandollar Executive after learning ‘men at the company had given Ms. Berman a less-than-generous share of royalties’ for the Buffy series.

Berman pitched the Buffy story as a TV show.
