Conor McGregor promised there would be no bad blood in his fight with Donald Cerrone on Saturday, and he was true to his word by sharing an embrace with Cowboy’s grandma after dismantling his opponent.
The Irishman marked his return to the Octagon with a stunning knockout in just 40 seconds at UFC 246, and immediately began to call out his rivals as he eyes up his next big fight.
But McGregor showed his tender side following his brutal KO win over Cerrone, as he shared a hug and a kiss with his opponent’s grandma after she entered the ring.

As ‘Cowboy’ is being interviewed after the fight, he gets a pleasant surprise as his grandmother arrives and gives him a warm embrace to console him following his crushing defeat.
As he finishes speaking to the media , he shakes hands with McGregor, before the Irishman spots his grandma, who has her arms wide open to hug the man who just knocked out her grandson.
She gives him a kiss on the cheek and pats his back as the two smile and exchange kind words.
It had been an emotional return for McGregor, who was making his first appearance inside the Octagon since his defeat to Khabib Nurmagomedov in October 2018.

He destroyed Cerrone with a flurry of shoulder barges and head kicks in the first exchanges, with the fight being stopped after McGregor unloaded with five left hands while Cowboy was on the ground.
After the fight he boasted how he had ‘made history’ after knocking out his opponent in three different weight classes, and welcomed any fighter to challenge him next up.
‘I’ve made history. I’m the first fighter in UFC history to secure knockouts in three different divisions,’ McGregor declared.
‘I’m very happy and proud. UFC can strip fighters and give people fake titles, so there you go, you can’t take that away, that’s history.’

‘I like this weight division, I feel very good. I don’t believe I’m there yet, I’ve got a lot to do, I’m going to party then get back to it. Every single one of them can get it, I’m back!’
‘Notorious’ is known for his fiery remarks in the build up to fights, but he was largely amicable ahead of his fight with Cerrone, promising to spill blood but that it ‘wouldn’t be bad blood’.
‘I have respect for Donald,’ he said. ‘He has earned my respect through his activity and through just observing him. He steps up. He goes through divisions also, not many a man in the business does that. He’s been around so long.
‘It’s hard not to respect Donald. There will be no bad blood here. But, there will be blood spilled. Make no mistake about that.’
