The image shows a photo of Mary’s grandfather on the shelf behind her – a man she professes to despise as well.
The picture was taken in April 2017 when Mary visited the White House to celebrate the 80th birthday of her aunt Maryanne, a year after her uncle took office.
It may surprise readers of her book, which paints a dark portrait of the Trump family and says that the President’s father Fred Sr neglected him so much it amounted to ‘child abuse’.
The psychological damage was such that Donald became a sociopath, a narcissist and a threat to the entire country, according to Mary.
But despite all these misgivings – Mary tweeted in 2016 that the election was the ‘worst night of my life’ – she accepted the invitation to visit her uncle in the White House.

She put aside the 20-year grudge with the Trumps which dates back to 1999 when they stated in court papers that she was already a multi-millionaire thanks to payments from the family’s real estate fortune.
The trip included a free night at the Trump International Hotel in Washington, where basic rooms cost around $300 a night.

She stopped at one of Hillary Clinton and silently thought to herself ‘how this could have happened?’
The whole Trump family was there including Donald’s son Eric, who didn’t recognize Mary because they hadn’t seen each other since high school.
Mary says they all posed for photos in the Oval Office, including Mary who mugged up for one behind the Resolute Desk.
After looking at the photo of herself later she saw Fred Sr and describes him as ‘hovering behind me like a ghost’.
Mary describes attending a meal in the Executive Dining room of the White House and claims that the President made a crass gag about his son Eric and Lara Trump.
By that point they had been together for eight years, three of which they were married.
The President said: ‘Lara there, I barely even know who the f*** she was, honestly, but then she gave a great speech during the campaign in Georgia supporting me’.

The President got angry when Maryanne reminded everyone of the time Donald’s late brother Fred Jr dumped a bowl of mashed potatoes on his head ‘because he was being such a brat’.
Everyone laughed apart from the President who listened with his arms folded and a scowl on his face, as if he were an angry seven-year-old.
Such behavior was typical for Donald, writes Mary in the explosive memoir.
She claims her uncle ogled her when she was 29 years old and in a swimsuit at Mar-a-Lago, his Florida estate, with Donald allegedly saying: ‘Holy s**t, Mary, you’re stacked!’
She alleges Donald paid a friend to take his SATs for him in order to attend University of Pennsylvania’s famous Wharton business school because his scores were so low.
But that is just the tip of the iceberg of the 200 page book which damns the entire Trump family.
Mary portrays them as deeply damaged people, starting with Fred Sr and his wife Mary Ann and filtering down to their five children.
Her own father Fred Trump Jr died in 1981 aged 43 after battling alcoholism and the Trumps all but cut her out of the family estate.
Mary writes: ‘Donald, following the lead of my grandfather and with the complicity, silence and inaction of his siblings, destroyed my father. I can’t let him destroy my country’.
In another section of the book, Mary reveals Donald’s eldest sister Maryanne, a now retired federal judge, scoffed at his presidential run, calling him ‘a clown’ and poked fun at his ‘five bankruptcies’.

The Trumps saw ‘cheating as a way of life’ and empathy was for weaklings.
Mary, a trained psychologist, diagnoses her uncle as a sociopath due to his ‘chronic criminality, arrogance, and disregard for others’.
She writes that ‘Donald may also meet some of the criteria for dependent personality disorder’ as well.
The hallmarks are: inability to take responsibility, discomfort when being alone and going to extreme lengths to obtain support from others.
The back of the book reads that ‘child abuse is, in some sense, a matter of ‘too much’ or ‘not enough’, the title of the book.
It adds: ‘Donald’s mother became ill when he was two and a half, suddenly depriving him of his main source of comfort and human contact. His father, Fred Sr, became his only available parent.’
‘But Fred firmly believed that dealing with young children was not his duty, and kept to his twelve-hours-a-day, six-days-a-week job, as if his children could look after themselves.
‘From the beginning, Fred’s self-interest skewed his priorities and his care of children reflected his own needs, not theirs. He could not empathize with Donald’s plight, so his son’s fears and longings went unsoothed.

‘Love meant nothing to Fred; he expected obedience, that was all. Over time, Donald became afraid that asking for comfort or attention would provoke his father’s anger or indifference when Donald was most vulnerable.
‘That Fred would become the primary source of Donald’s solace when he was much more likely to be a source of fear or rejection put Donald in an intolerable position: total dependence on a caregiver who also caused him terror. Donald suffered deprivations that would scar him for life.’
Simon & Schuster announced this week that Mary’s memoir would be released two weeks early.
It will now come out on July 14 instead of July 28 due to ‘high demand and extraordinary interest’ that has pushed it to No. 1 on the Amazon best seller list.
Mary is the child of Fred Trump Jr, the President’s older brother who died in 1981 after struggling with alcoholism
The memoir is still the subject of a legal dispute between Mary and the Trump family and a hearing is scheduled for Thursday before a judge in Dutchess County, north of New York City.
Mary fell out with her family in 1999 when she and her brother Fred Trump III challenged the will of Fred Sr.
Mary alleged in a lawsuit that Fred Sr was suffering from ‘significant mental impairment’ and that Donald and his siblings manipulated him into nearly cutting out her and her brother.
Robert Trump fired back in an affidavit which said: ‘Fred Sr and our mother, Mary Ann Trump, have made these children (Fred III and Mary) multi-millionaires over a period of time.
‘My parents have furnished Fred III and Mary with annual gifts of $20,000 for each member of the respective families’.
Fred III’s wife got an additional $20,000 when they got married, Robert said.
Robert wrote: ‘This is over and above the income they received from family ventures, corporate interests and ground leases.
‘I have every reason to believe that if the amount does not exceed $200,000 a year in income from Trump operations they each receive reasonably close to $200,000 without either lifting one finger at any time’.
Robert claimed that on top of all that, Fred III and Mary had an inheritance from their father and capital distributions which between 1991 and 1993 alone were $3 million.
