Borussia Monchengladbach boss Marco Rose admits he has been affected by angry fan reaction at news he will be appointed as Borussia Dortmund boss this summer.

‘It has not been nothing, I admit that,’ Rose told Goal.

Marco Rose has admitted angry fan reaction to news he will take over at Borussia Dortmund has had an effect on him as the 44-year-old looks to finish the season with Monchengladbach

‘But I also believe that it has something to do with the fact that we have improved a lot in a year and a half here, and that many people feel that we’re actually not finished yet. I agree with this.’

The passionate Westphalian supporters were beginning to question Rose’s commitment to the club before his summer exit was officially confirmed.

After defeat to Koln in the derby, ultras group FPMG wrote: ‘Anyone who sees the derby as an ideal opportunity to undertake a rotative experiment does not understand Borussia Mönchengladbach.’

The timing of the announcement frustrated supporters with such a big double-header against Manchester City to come in the Champions League last-16.

Gladbach’s sporting director Max Eberl said in a statement: ‘We have had many discussions with each other in the past few weeks about Marco’s future.

‘Unfortunately, he has now decided that he would like to make use of a clause in his contract, which runs until June 2022, to switch to Borussia Dortmund in the summer.

‘If the conditions stipulated in his contract are met on time, he will no longer be available to us after the end of the season. Until then, we and Marco will mobilise all of our strengths to achieve our goals in the Bundesliga, the DFB Cup and the Champions League.’

Rose will take the reins from Edin Terzic at Dortmund after he stepped in until the end of the season following the sacking of Lucien Favre.
