‘Downright disgusting’ Aussie cricket star Marcus Stoinis is SLAMMED for accusing bowler of chucking

Aussie cricket all-rounder Marcus Stoinis has come under fire for a not-so-subtle dig at Pakistan paceman Muhammad Hasnain accusing the bowler of being a chucker.

They are currently playing in The Hundred competition in the UK where Hasnain’s Oval Invincibles claimed a seven-wicket win over Stoinis’ Southern Brave.

After being dismissed by Hasnain for 37 off 27 deliveries, Stoinis made a chucking motion as he headed toward the pavilion.

 Hasnain was suspended from international cricket by the ICC in February for having a suspect action but was cleared to return to bowling after an independent reassessment at the ICC accredited centre in Lahore in June.

 Stoinis could now face disciplinary action for his chucking sledge which could result in a suspension.

The Age’s Daniel Brettig tweeted: ‘This is poor. There’s a system in place to regulate bowling actions and it doesn’t include publicly questioning your opponent’s integrity.’

 The Times’ Elizabeth Ammon posted: ‘Wonder if Stoinis will be in trouble for this implication.’

It is not the first time that Hasnain has been sledged about his action by an Aussie, with Sydney Sixers captain Moises Henriques yelling, ‘Nice throw, mate’ during the most recent Big Bash League.

‘Right from the first game he played and through to the tournament, it seemed that there was a few question marks there,’ Henriques told reporters at the time,’ he said.

‘I didn’t have the protractor out.

‘I guess from my point of view, we knew already it had been reported. I feel like the umpires are a little bit hamstrung in terms of what they can actually do on the cricket field, because they’re so worried about backlash and public opinion.

‘I could definitely argue that what he was doing was not in the spirit of the game.

‘And I also agree that possibly I got a little bit emotional and frustrated and I was a bit overt with my comments out in the middle. But you know, I called a spade a spade and that was my opinion.

‘From afar, he seems like a good kid … hopefully he can get that action right and pass the test and hopefully he can have a long career.

‘As long as he’s playing within the rules of the game that everyone else has to abide by.

‘Good luck to him. It looks like he could have a long future if that all gets sorted.’
