Dr Chris Brown is the newest surprising superhero in the DC Universe line-up, lending his voice to guinea pig Mark in the animated DC League of Super-Pets.

The celebrity vet, 43, stars alongside wrestler Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and comedian Kevin Hart in the film.

He announced the news on Sunday, uploading a promo picture of himself in the recording studio to Instagram alongside an image of the cute animal he voices.

‘When you’re in possession of a substantial, potentially oversized jawline AND you’re contacted by DC films to voice a character in their new animated superhero movie, you’d be excused for thinking they’re getting some Superman vibes,’ he captioned the post.

‘But oh no. They knew the character I was born to play. So I’m delighted to be voicing the character of Mark…the Guinea Pig. But he’s not just any GP. His superpower? Fire.’

The movie had its theatrical release in the US on July 29, taking the top spot at the box office over the weekend with $23million in domestic earnings.

The motion picture, which is about Superman’s dog Krypto the Super-Dog, played at 4,314 locations, AP reported, citing studio estimates.

Industry experts predicted the film, which also features the voices of Kate McKinnon, John Krasinski and Keanu Reeves, would open to around $25 million.

DC League Of Super-Pets also took in $18.4 million internationally, bumping its global gross to up to $41.4 million.

‘This opening is a huge win for DC fans, the box office, WB and our filmmakers,’ Warner Bros. president of domestic distribution Jeff Goldstein said, according to AP. 

‘The interest is red hot. Young family movies play for a long time. Given our CinemaScore of A- and word of mouth, we’re going to be around for a while.’ 

It comes as Chris’s new reality show Dog House Australia is shaping up to be a surprise ratings winner for Channel 10.

Hosted by Chris, the heartwarming show appears as the second major hit of the year for the embattled network after 10’s Hunted blitzed the ratings and was quickly renewed for a second season.

The animated superhero movie won’t be released theatrically in Australia until September 15.
