Dramatic moment Hilton knife victim, 20, flees five-star hotel

Running from a luxury hotel in her dressing gown while clutching her neck, this is the distressing moment a woman went looking for help after having her throat cut following a 17th birthday bash.

The 20-year-old woman, wearing a white dressing gown and in bare feet, looks at her blood-covered hands moments before flagging down a police car on Deansgate in Manchester.

Witnesses said she fled screaming for help with gash in her neck around three inches long before collapsing in one of the city’s busiest roads.

Armed police then flooded the five-star Hilton and arrested six suspects including two sisters aged 17 and 20 on suspicion of attempted murder.

The 17-year-old was arrested in her pink pyjamas and walked to a police van by an officer carrying her handbag. Her sister, wearing jeans and flip-flops, was paraded in handcuffs minutes later.

They had been staying together at the £150-a-night hotel after a glitzy party to celebrate the glamourous teenager’s birthday.

They posted pictures of themselves posing with bottles of champagne on their night out, which had included a meal at the city’s exclusive San Carlo restaurant where they downed Prosecco, according to The Sun.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said crime scenes ‘are now in place in one of the hotel rooms and outside the hotel itself’ – but said the attack is not believed to be terrorism related.

A spokesman said: ‘Four men, aged 20, 24, 26 and 26 and two women, aged 17 and 20, have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

‘They are all in custody for questioning and enquiries are ongoing’.

Anthony Hilton, who works in a nearby letting agents, said a woman who appeared to have had her throat cut had been taken away in an ambulance.

‘One of our colleagues walked past. He saw a woman on the floor with a large slash across the throat.’ said Mr Hilton, 32, from Manchester.

He added: ‘She was in hysterics, she was moaning and screaming’.

He described the woman as being in her thirties but could not comment on her condition as she was taken away.

‘There must have been 15 undercover and normal police cars out in the street. Police were running to and fro from the car park and the Hilton Hotel,’ he said.

Witnesses said on social media the victim ran screaming into street and that the three men were arrested shortly afterwards.

Officers could be seen speaking to other guests and hotel staff in one of the bars of the Hilton, which occupies part of the 47-floor Beetham Tower, which is described by its developers as the tallest residential building in Europe and the seventh tallest building in England.

An artist, Sasha Ray, 42, who works in a nearby furniture store, said: ‘I saw a guy being arrested and a young lady in the corner of the car park across the road.

‘She was lay down on the floor, and her legs were moving up and down as if she was having a fit.’

An employee of estate agents Homes4u said: ‘There was a woman who had run out of the Hilton and into the car park a few doors away.

It is thought the woman was wearing a well-dressed in a white suit.

Landlord of nearby The Deansgate pub John Anderson, said: ‘We saw a man in his thirties being arrested and taken away in a van around 11.45.

‘There were paramedics dealing with her at the car park. The first responders arrived within minutes, then an estate car with paramedics came.

‘An ambulance van arrived after a while. It was hard to tell how many paramedics and police there were but there were a lot.

‘It’s worrying when you hear someone has had their throat slashed, you automatically assume the worst and don’t know how serious the incident will become.’

A solicitor, who passed the scene at around 11:20am on their way to the law courts and asked not to be named, said: ‘I was driving past at around 11.20am and stopped at the lights to turn left on to Liverpool Road.

‘There was no cordon or anything but about 2 or three police vehicles.

‘The woman was lying on her front in the small car park opposite the hotel. A few people were attending to her including policemen.’

A spokeswoman for North West Ambulance Service earlier today said: ‘We got a call at 11.12am.

‘We are still on the scene at the moment. We are treating a female patient.

‘Police are also on the scene.’
