This CCTV footage shows the moment a drink-driver rolled forwards into a pavement in a car park – right in front of an oncoming police car.

Craig Posonby-Burl, 20, drove his red Volkswagen into the car park shortly before 11pm on October 2.

The driver seemingly found a parking spot and pulled into it with no issue – but a few seconds later, the car began to roll forward, with the bumper eventually bouncing off a curb in front.

At that moment, a police car was driving into the Brewery Car Park in Cirencester, Gloucestershire, and pulled up beside Posonby-Burl’s car – before the red VW then reversed back into the parking space.

Posonby-Burl, of St Michael’s Road, Cirencester, appeared at Cheltenham Magistrates’ Court on Thursday charged with drink-driving.

The court heard how Posonby-Burl was found to have 51 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, the legal limit being 35 micrograms.

He was found guilty and banned from driving for 14 months.
