‘Drink driving’ woman pleads with police after being caught ‘almost four times over the limit’

A Queensland woman who was questioned by police after reports a driver had side-swiped multiple cars, said she was just ‘a little bit’ drunk, despite allegedly driving at more than four times the legal limit.

The woman was pulled over by police in the car park of a pizza shop after responding to calls that a number of cars had been side-swiped by an out-of-control car.

The driver behind the wheel was allegedly caught drink driving more than four times over the legal alcohol limit in Cairns.

In a video recorded by the Cairns Road Policing Unit, the woman is approached by police but denies she had been involved in an accident.

‘Nothing’s happened tonight,’ the woman says.

When officers ask where the woman has driven she tells them: ‘Just down the corner.’

However, police are not convinced and the unidentified woman becomes more distressed.

‘Oh God, what?!’ she exclaims before realising, ‘this is not good.’

The driver concedes she will ‘probably be over’ the legal limit.

Cairns police confirm the woman is well above the legal alcohol driving limit, detaining her for further tests.

However, the woman insists she is ‘not a bad person’ and is just ‘a little bit’ drunk.

‘You are very over,’ the police officer informs her. ‘You are now detained.’

The video was posted to the Queensland Police Service Facebook page where users were not sympathetic.

One woman asked if the driver would still consider herself ‘not a bad person’ had she hit someone in her intoxicated state.
