A four-wheel-drive has been caught on camera rolling off a sand dune and into the crashing waves at a remote beach.

Francois Van Zyl was driving his Toyota Landcruiser through the sand in Wilbinga, just north of Perth, when he suddenly lost control.

The car slides out over a steep shelf before rolling down the dune and into the ocean.

The crash occurred on Australia Day on Friday at the spot just past Two Rocks.

Mr Van Zyl posted the video to Facebook that evening, captioning it ‘just another day on the beach’.

The footage has been viewed more than 250,000 times in less than two days.

As the car gathers momentum it appears to slide across the sand and towards the dune face.
