Driver fights for life after head-on collision with kangaroo in NSW

A driver is fighting for life after a freak head-on collision with a kangaroo.  

The 19-year-old driver of the Holden Commodore was travelling on Pipers Flat Road in Lithgow, NSW about 7.20pm on Friday, with two female passengers, when a kangaroo jumped in front of the car, Daily Telegraph reported. 

The driver hit the kangaroo in which the animal was thrown into the air and smashed into the windscreen of an oncoming Ford Falcon ute.

The 32-year-old ute driver lost control of his vehicle and smashed into the guard rails.

He was treated on the scene by paramedics after suffering from serious head and facial injuries before he was airlifted to Westmead Hospital.

He is still in a critical condition.  

The Holden driver and his two female passengers were uninjured.

Police are investigating the incident and are urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.
