A crime scene was established off Scenic Drive through San Remo about 2.30pm on Sunday.

Police said the body was not discovered until the next day because the man ‘went over the road and into an embankment’ after being hit.

He was allegedly struck while walking south along the road, near Wills Street, between 11pm and 11.30pm on Saturday night.

The Central Coast Highway was closed in both directions on Sunday as police investigated, but the scene has now been cleared.

Police appealed for anyone who may have information to contact the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit on 8882 1458.
