A drug dealer has been jailed after nearly 50 wraps of heroin and crack cocaine were found stashed inside his prosthetic leg.

Mohamed Abdi-Hassan, 29, was a member of the Santana county lines gang – a London-based group which flooded Swindon with drugs worth £100,000 in 2016-17 by using baby-faced runners and taking over vulnerable addicts’ homes as bases.

He was arrested in September 2016 at an address in Swindon, and was found with 47 drugs wraps and almost £300 in cash stashed inside his prosthetic leg.

Mobile phones that showed he had significant contact with the Santana line were also found in his possession.

Abdi-Hassan, of Leicester, had lost his left foot and much of his right leg in successive road accidents.

The street dealer has now been sentenced to three years and ten months at Swindon Crown Court after admitting conspiracy to supply class A drugs.

He was sentenced alongside co-conspirator Reagan Pires, 23, of Swindon, who was jailed for three years and four months.

Judge Jason Taylor QC told the men: ‘This was a conspiracy to supply class A drugs and the message must go out that it can’t be tolerated.’

The court heard that, over 14 months in 2016 and 2017, the Santana line sold £95,000-worth of crack cocaine and heroin – the equivalent of more than 10,000 drug deals.

One boy prosecuted last year over his involvement in the line was aged just 15 when he was recruited into the group.

‘It’s something he’s probably going to grasp with both hands.’
