‘Drug lord and elite hacker’, 33, accused of trafficking huge haul of drugs and millions of dollars 

A 33-year-old alleged ‘elite hacker’ is facing 50 charges in relation to the alleged importation and supply of cocaine, ketamine and MDMA worth millions of dollars from the dark web.

Strike force investigators arrested Dov Tenenboim in Vaucluse, Sydney, Thursday following investigations into an alleged international ‘dark web’ drug importation ring.

Detectives from Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command commenced Strike Force Bergmark in February to investigate the alleged syndicate, which police suspected was importing illicit drugs from Europe to Australia via postal services.

Several dozen packages were tracked and intercepted arriving into New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia from January this year.

Court documents alleged Tenenboim was allegedly ordering packages of drugs to locations across the eastern suburbs including Bellevue Hill, Randwick, Bondi, Potts Point and Kensington.

Police will allege these packages contained ketamine, MDMA and cocaine, and that he was the head of the Australian arm of the alleged syndicate which distributed illicit drug packages across the country.

Tenenboim has been charged with onselling drugs in 300 gram units, suspected to have been ongoing for several months.

A search warrant was executed a short time later at a unit on the Diamond Bay Road home he shared with his fiance, who has not not been charged for anything.

Officers allegedly seized cocaine, computers, mobile phones, a diamond ring, $70,000 cash and $350,000 worth of cryptocurrency. All items were secured for forensic analysis. 

He was taken to Waverley Police Station and charged with 45 counts of import commercial quantities of border controlled drugs, supply commercial quantity of prohibited drugs, direct a criminal group and recklessly deal in proceeds of crime.

He was refused bail to appear at Waverley Local Court on Friday, June 8.

A second search warrant was later executed at a financial institution in the city and documents were seized.

The man’s arrest follows an arrest in May in which a 33-year-old Bondi man was also charged with two counts of commercial quantity drug supply and indictable quantity drug supply. 

During the investigation, police allegedly seized over half a kilogram of cocaine, over five litres of liquid MDMA, over six kilograms of MDMA pills, over one kilogram of ketamine, over 800 grams of MDMA rock, and over half a kilogram of methylamphetamine.

The prohibited drugs have an estimated potential street value of more than $1.5 million dollars.
