The 29-year-old man found in the unit, which is only minutes from Gold Coast’s iconic theme park Dreamworld, is assisting police with their investigation.

Photos released to the public by Queensland Police show hundreds of vials of steroids under different labels.

Officer in Charge of the Gold Coast Rapid Action Patrol Senior Sergeant Mat Kelly said that police would continue to target all illegal activities on the Gold Coast, in particular drugs.

‘This a demonstration of police and the community working together to stop the scourge of drugs on our streets,’ a police statement says.

Under current Australian legislation, the possession of anabolic steroids, which contain testosterone, is illegal without a prescription.

Queensland specifically reclassified steroids as a schedule-one drug in 2014, putting them in the same category as heroin, cocaine and ice.

The maximum penalty for possession or supply of steroids is 25 years imprisonment.
