This is the moment a drummer playing at a wedding accidentally hurled his instrument at a guest who was filming the performance.

The drummer was one of a pair performing at the wedding in the town of Carsamba in northern Turkey’s Samsun Province.

The duo were circling the dance floor, in front of guests, playing their drums and vigorously swinging them around their bodies at the same time.

Suddenly, one of the drummer’s straps broke and his drum hurtled into a guest who was filming the event on her smartphone.

The footage shows the drum flying straight into the woman who was later named as Nazire Karaca.

Ms Karaca later said: ‘I think the phone protected me. I was holding the phone and the drum bounced off and hit my legs.

‘If it wasn’t for the phone, the drum would have hit me in the face. I didn’t understand how it happened. We were all shocked.’

Ms Karaca was not badly hurt and was able to enjoy the rest of the wedding party.

She later shared her clip on video-sharing platforms where it is proving popular with viewers.
