‘Drunk driver crashes ute and writes off four vehicles

A man has been taken to hospital after crashing his ute into two parked cars and a motorcycle on a notorious intersection. 

The driver was allegedly intoxicated at the time of the crash and was subjected to blood and urine testing upon his arrival at the hospital.

The incident, which occurred on Carrington Road in Randwick, left all four vehicles with major damage with the tow truck driver saying all four are likely to be written off.

One of the owners of the destroyed vehicles said this was the fifth time he had been impacted on the same intersection. 

He said he believed a council built traffic island has made the intersection more dangerous. 

The traffic island was installed in an attempt to slow traffic down on the street and intersection.

Another victim, who owned two of the vehicles, said he only recently lost his job and his BMW was uninsured.

He said he had spent two decades working as an international aid worker but now was going through a rough patch.
