A drunk wedding guest who was kicked out of a reception at a prestigious golf course allegedly retaliated by driving across the course greenery in a ‘wild rampage’.

The man, who has not been identified, was invited to a friend’s wedding reception at Mornington golf course, south of Melbourne, when he was evicted from the venue on Saturday evening.

Although it’s not clear why the 33-year-old man from Langwarrin was asked to leave the premises, it’s understood the incident occurred after he’d been excessively drinking.

The male guest, who has not been identified, had been invited to attend a friend’s wedding reception at a golf course (pictured) in Mornington

Shortly after he left the reception police were called to the premises around 10pm, following reports a man was driving erratically through the car park.

But in what appeared to be retaliation for getting kicked out the venue, the man then allegedly drunk-drove the vehicle across the golf green and damaged the grounds.

Police arrested the man and took him back to the station for an breath test in which he returned an alleged reading of .177 per cent.

His car was impounded at a cost of $1010 and he’s expected to be interviewed in relation to drink-driving and criminal damage offences.

A spokesperson for Mornington golf course told Daily Mail Australia the man had not caused any permanent damage to the greens.

They also confirmed the golf course was fine to use and was open for business as usual.
