Dua Lipa proves she’s no shrinking violet in plunging purple metallic gown at Billboard Awards

She is scheduled to perform at Sunday night’s Billboard Music Awards.

But Dua Lipa was already a showstopper when she walked the star-studded red carpet at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena.

The 22-year-old, who shot to fame last year with her single New Rules, slipped into a cleavage-baring metallic purple dress with raised shoulders.

When you got it: Dua Lipa was already a showstopper when she walked the star-studded red carpet at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena

Dua, who hails from London, slicked her cropped hair back and modeled a pair of drop earrings, adding to the glitz factor with a massive necklace.

Her robe-like dress’ neckline fell far enough to offer a view of her enviably flat midriff, and its perilously high thigh-slit emphasized her svelte pins.

Dua emphasized the leggy effect of her outfit by balancing on platform heels, and she wound a sash around her trim waistline.

She and Calvin Harris dropped a joint single last month, One Kiss, which peaked at No. 49 on the Billboard Hot 100 and spent five weeks on the chart.

For her performance at Sunday night’s ceremony, she has chosen Homesick, which appears with New Rules on her 2017 self-titled debut LP.

She made the announcement on her Instagram Story, revealing her rendition of Homesick will be the ‘encore performance’ of the show.

Her Insta Story also played host to a snapshot of her foot in a black platform Adidas sneaker with her name embossed on it.

‘Custom bbs for tonight #bbmas,’ she wrote in a caption.

Ed Sheeran, Kendrick Lamar and Bruno Mars lead the way in the nominations for the 2018 Billboard Music Awards on Sunday night, with each receiving 15 nods.

All three are up for Best Artist and will compete with Drake, who has nine nominations, and Taylor Swift, who has five.

British singer-songwriter Sheeran has also been nominated for Top Male Artist, Top Touring Artist and Top Hot 100 Artist. He faces stiff competition for all of these awards from Bruno Mars, who won in all six of his categories at the Grammy Awards in January.

Fresh from becoming the first rapper to be awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Music for his album Damn, Kendrick Lamar’s fourth studio album is in the running for Top Selling Album, Top Rap Album and Top Billboard 200 Album.

Beyonce has been left off the list for Top Female Artist, which will be contested by Camila Cabello, Cardi B, Halsey, Demi Lovato and Swift. However, the Coachella headliner does face a showdown with SZA and Rihanna for Top R&B Artist.

Elsewhere, Irish rock band U2’s live performances were rewarded with nods for Top Touring Artist and Top Rock Tour. They must overcome Guns N’ Roses, who have wowed crowds around the world with a reunited line-up of singer Axl Rose, guitarist Slash and bassist Duff McKagan.

Hard rock band Linkin Park received a nomination for Best Rock Artist following the death of singer Chester Bennington last July. Meanwhile, 68-year-old singer Lionel Richie proved his staying power with a nomination in the category for Top R&B Tour.

As was previously announced, Janet Jackson will be presented with this year’s Icon Award.

'Encore': For her performance at Sunday night's ceremony, she has chosen Homesick, which appears with New Rules on her 2017 self-titled debut LP

Meanwhile Kelly Clarkson is hosting the night’s ceremony, and also performing during the show at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Camila Cabello, Ariana Grande, Dua, Shawn Mendes, and Korean pop group BTS  will also all perform at the ceremony.

Other performances include Demi Lovato’s duet with Christina Aguilera.
